Global 15-year review process in the 54th session of the Commission on the Status of Women

High-level roundtables

The high-level roundtable covered “The implementation of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, the outcomes of the twenty-third special session of the General Assembly and its contribution to shaping a gender perspective towards the full realization of the Millennium Development Goals”. Participants focused on the linkages between the implementation of the Beijing Platform for Action and the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals. They engaged in dialogue and shared experiences and lessons learned.

The Commission held a series of interactive expert panels to support the sharing of experiences and good practices and the identification of ways to overcome remaining obstacles and new challenges in implementation of the Platform for Action and the outcome of the 23rd special session of the General Assembly.  The panels also considered ways for increasing awareness of the synergies between implementation of the Platform for Action and achievement of the MDGs.  In addition, a lunchtime panel took place in preparation for the 2011 priority theme of the Commission.
