“We need women’s voices and leadership to be prominent in food systems. It’s the only way to guarantee that food systems are just,” says , Director for Africa at the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) and Lead of the Summit’s Gender Lever of Change, who joins Aaron Niederhelman as co-host in this conversation about equitable livelihoods, gender equality and women’s empowerment.

Independent Dialogues Public Forum

Celebrate the bold leaders taking action through Dialogues as we approach a milestone of 1,000 Independent Dialogues. This virtual event will provide an opportunity for Independent Convenors and other key players in the Food Systems Summit Dialogues Programme to reflect on their experiences with the Dialogues process and to celebrate their accomplishments and contributions made during and beyond the Summit. Join us at Session 1 - 8:00 CET or Session 2 - 17:00 CET.

On the eve of the Tokyo Nutrition for Growth Summit 2021 the UNFSS Secretariat is hosting this event to underscore the linkage between nutrition and food systems, and to heighten global awareness, momentum, and actions toward delivering on the promise of the UN Decade of Action on Nutrition (2016-2025), and nine years remaining to deliver on the 2030 Agenda. Join us from 11:00 EAT / 17:00 JST.

The Nutrition for Growth Summit will be an important opportunity to set the world on a path to achieving the SDG targets – in particular, to end malnutrition in all its forms by 2030 and to strengthen the link between diet, food systems and health. The goal is to galvanize commitments from governments, civil society, the private sector, donor agencies and the UN to end malnutrition in all of its forms.

The event set the stage for the upcoming Summit on 23 Septemeber 2021 by bringing together diverse actors from around the world to leverage the power of food systems to deliver progress on all 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
